Hawaiian Sunrise

A few weeks ago, Starr and I spent some time cleaning in her room. Well, to be honest, she cleaned and I kept her company. As I was sitting there talking and watching “27 Dresses” with her, I also looked around at the things she had on her shelves and walls. This photo popped out at me, it is one of my favorites of her and my dad…so I stole it…temporarily, so that I could scan it.

About fourteen years ago (can that be possible?) Starr and I were visiting my folks who at the time were living in Kailua, Hawaii. We woke up early one morning to sit out on the lanai and watch the sun rise over the ocean.

It was a quiet, beautiful, simple moment. She looks so safe, cozy and loved there.

And she was.
