I took just two pictures with my “regular” camera while standing in line before it was whisked away to the safety of my car, along with my purse. Purses were not allowed…they said. The girls were uncooperative, yet I thought I had all day to play…I was wrong. Turns out, only one is worth sharing. Only because it made me laugh!
“Mom, what do you think you are doing?”
Oops, you can see physical proof of one Starr’s recent activities!!
The right side is worse!!!
And Skye—I’m sorry, but this just makes me giggle!
Just because I am in the mood…and there are costumes! Which reminds me, Starr and I saw a bunch of college students dressed in costumes the other night. Some were walking, some were on bikes. We assumed PARTY!! somewhere, and we laughed the next day to see a young man walking slowly home, still in costume, at about 11 am!!
If you live alone and you get up from your current task to go attend to something else, and say out loud “I will be right back” to the air that surrounds you….should you be worried?
We had a plan in place for the Obama rally. When I called Starr to make sure she was up, she was croaking…sick with a cold, sounding awful. For a few minutes our plans for the day were on hold.
I picked her up and we had some breakfast and reassessed. She decided that she wanted to go, that this kind of opportunity doesn’t come up very often, so we went home to pick up a fresh box of tissues and then made our way to join the already very long line made up of mostly Obama supporters. (I personally knew two McCain Palin supporters in the crowd who came for the experience, so I won’t assume that everyone who chose to come was automatically pro-Obama) We spent the day waiting in line with Skye and her family. It was fun, it was good, we were glad we went.
The temperatures were cold in the morning, but by mid-afternoon were quite lovely. The sun was out, and we soaked up the energy of the crowd.

I tried to capture video of the girls dancing on the lawn while waiting for the event to start, but got caught right away!
My only complaint, other than tired feet and my aching back, was that the stage was so low to the ground. The event was outdoors and the attendees were standing. The stage was so low that the person speaking could barely be seen in brief glimpses…if lucky…through the sea of heads in front of us…and we were not that far away from him.
There he is…right behind the little girl on her dad’s shoulders blocking the view of many.
Regardless of the visability issues, Obama’s speech was inspiring, and brought tears to both Starr and Skye’s mom.
Tissues used up, and physically exhausted, Starr and I headed home to crash.
“Barack Obama is coming to town!” Starr excitedly informed me when I returned home last night. Why was she in my house? After the 5k I thought I would see less of her as she settles into college and sorority life. I was wrong. Stress and depression are powerful things…this week, ex-boyfriend troubles and best friend issues (unfortunately these are NOT two separate problems!!) have added to the stress, making for a difficult day. Home is safe.
Back to Barack. She is going to see him. She sketched out a plan that included going out to lunch and then walking over to the event early enough to get in and then wait for the rally to start.
“Sounds like a good plan,” I say. “Who are you going with?”
“With you! If you want to come.”
Grins! Of course I want to go…with her. Crowds and all.
A post from August has disappeared. I am disturbed, and angry. I noticed this one…but are there other posts disappearing without my knowledge? I will have to step-up my backing up routine.
I am re-posting some of the songs from that post…the others I don’t recall and can’t find reference to as the labels for that post disappeared too. While searching for the missing mp3s, I ran into some other songs. So here are a few, but not all the songs from the missing post, and a few others…just for fun.
I was looking for some Guster to post recently and was unable to find any. I did find the following, which is set to clips from my favorite movie….which is good, and appropriate for the day:
Clips from “Life as a House” set to Guster’s “Rainy Day”

This is not a music blog. While it is my desire to share free and legal music here (music is a part of me), it is not my goal to critique this music.
If I have posted music, it is because I like it, and it moves me at the moment. It might match my mood, it could be on repeat, or mirror the sentiment of my post. It might be quite random, and just what I wish to share.
