I picked up Starr from school this morning so that she could come home to eat lunch before work. She was in the kitchen making a grilled cheese sandwich with the TV on and I was talking to my brother on the phone. Suddenly, she wanted me to hang up so that she could tell me a story. After I finished talking to DJ she started telling me about this story that she just saw on The Today Show.
She was so moved that she is crying, and having difficulty verbalizing, trying to tell me about this veteran’s story. About how the thank you he received impacted the rest of his life.
