May Day Friday
Starr loves May Day. She has been talking about it for weeks….she always has. “I love May Day!” she says, although I can’t ever remember anything special or fun happening on May Day. One year when she was 6 or 7 we did May Day baskets for a few of our neighbors, but since then, nothing.
She still loves May Day. She talks about sharing May Day with her future kids. I think, maybe, that it is a sign that schools almost out, that summer is coming. Plus the fact that May is her birthday month. She will be 20 this year! Gah, I need a drink…I will no longer the parent of a teenager!! Where has the time gone?!
Happy May Day! I hope it was lovely!

For Virtual Girls Night Out, Ann asks: For a potluck, have you been the one that brought the dish that nobody ate?
Yes, and recently. Though not for a sit down dinner. I made a shrimp dip appetizer for Grampa Bill’s memorial gathering. It was virtually untouched. I have made this dish before and it disappears, people talk about it (positively!)…so I was a little surprised. I took some comfort in the fact that there was a whole lot of food and where my dish landed on the table, it wasn’t really clear what it was and what you were supposed to do with it. Crackers were near, but they were not clearly connected.
Go visit Ann and join party: Virtual Girls Night Out!
Have a wonderful night!!

Happy VGNO — Hope you have a wonderful Weekend.
Funny how certain memories stick!
Happy VGNO!
Those baskets must have made a big impression! Sounds like a great idea.
Happy VGNO, have a wonderful weekend!
I’ve had that too, where your fer sure a dish is going to be da bomb, but then falls flat. Ah, well, next time!
Happy VGNO!
It brings back memories. HAPPY VGNO
Happy May Day! Enjoy your weekend.
Love the basket idea!
Happy VGNO!
Aww…your baby is all grown up. I’m feeling it already- my 11 year old only has a few inches before she tops me!
Well, then, happy May! How did May Day get started, I wonder.
Happy VGNO and Happy May Day!
Have a great weekend.
Happy VGNO! I somehow forgot that it’s May Day today. I’m glad you reminded me.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you are having a nice VGNO. That is neat that you are going no ‘poo too! We will have to compare notes =)
I was just reading back through your blog (the previous post sparked my interest) and I had no idea of what you have gone through! I don’t really know what to say, but I am so sorry! You and Starr are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the next couple weeks are kind to you and you can have peace surrounding you.
Happy VGNO. Thanks for stopping by! I often wonder if I will make it 8 more years until Tara is no longer a teen, and she’s still a tween!
It is funny how kids remember things that to them were very special, but to us not so meaningful… simple silly things… but to them it is a BIG deal!
Happy VGNO!!
I remember as a kid we would make construction paper ‘vases’, put flowers in them, hang them on our neighbors door and ring the bell and run away…it was so much fun! We don’t live in a neighborhood conducive to that, or I would have introduced that fun thing to the Princess Nagger…
Happy VGNO – and Happy May Day!
Happy VGNO! And of course, Happy May Day! I love the idea of leaving flowers or spring decorations on people’s doorstep. I’ll have to see about doing that next year. I didn’t realize May Day was a holiday (where’ve I been living?).
Have a great weekend.
May Day means a whole other thing here in L.A. I’ve never heard of all these nice traditions for the first day in May! Here, downtown L.A. pretty much closes down because of the big May Day protest marches, well, at least I think its a protest.
Thanks for visiting! Just read a little about Sunny and Star. I’m a mother of two girls and I can’t even imagine what you have been through. Big hugs!!!!!
A good dish is mini pigs in a blanket!
You know, I had never heard the phrase “May Day” until this year and it was like everyone said it!
