Remembering an Angel

I am going to get back on the happy bus soon. Actually, I don’t think I’ve actually been on the happy bus, but I promise to start looking for it!! Starr posted this on Facebook this weekend and I thought I’d share:

I can’t believe it, how can this be, I still can’t believe it’s true at all; these are the things I think when time is mentioned. I’m stunned that time has gone by so quickly, but mostly it’s because I still feel her with me and I’m grateful that never fades. I miss her everyday, I miss watching movies, making dumb videos, going to the park and drinking smoothies after school, I miss Qdoba at lunch and wisdom from Sunny’s dad telling us not to do whatever our “great” idea was for that day. I miss morning drives to jazz or I mean “show” choir, I miss mall Mondays and random Fridays, eating frosting by the spoonful which was always available in her family’s kitchen, I miss late night talks and how she just knew how I felt even if I tried to fake it. I miss her smile, trading clothes, taking model pictures and making her do photo shoots for my photo projects and the list goes on and on.

I was shown this over a year ago by a dear friend and I feel that it fits Sunny’s story. Not only is she an angel now, but she was in life. Everyone who was graced with her presence saw that there was something special and now those who are told or affected by her know that she is an angel.

These words say much more gracefully than I ever could how her life was felt and how close she is with God. Her faith was always strong and now as she is closer with God she shines over us allowing us to give and grow. I am thankful for her life and the good that has come in her name since . . .

GOD SENT US AN ANGEL-

God sent us an angel, but he didn’t give her wings
I never saw a harp, and I rarely heard her sing
He tucked away the halo, so we wouldn’t recognize
But I think I saw it shining, in the light deep in her eyes

God sent us an angel, to live an earthly life
To walk the path before her, in happiness and strife
It wasn’t his intention that we should ever know
Her purpose was to touch us, and to help our souls to grow

God sent us an angel, with a nature pure and true
She showed unselfish love to everyone she knew
A kind and gentle spirit, her words would never taunt
Such beauty in simplicity, in a life she didn’t flaunt

God sent us an angel, with the strength of many men
It wasn’t in her muscles, but from what she held within
The burdens that she carried, could never break her stride
As she lived the life God gave her, with dignity and pride

God sent us an angel, with a lovely face and mind
Yet it wasn’t physical assets that he hoped that we would find
I know that she has blessed us with love to make us whole
And the splendor of her essence will live forever in our souls

God sent us an angel; her faith was firm and strong
Through pain and physical torment, she knew where she belonged
She’d close her eyes in silence, and bow her head to pray
To thank God for his blessings and the life he gave each day

God sent us an angel who would never cast a stone
Or speak words to break the heart of anyone she’s known
She didn’t make an enemy, in the present or her past
For she only knew of goodness, and made memories that last

God send us an angel who wore a smile upon her face
I’ve tucked it in my heart, where it will never be erased
She will linger in my memories, until we meet again
Waiting there in heaven, to greet her family and friends

God sent us an angel so many lives she touched
We all should count our blessings for she’s given us so much
The void in our hearts and the sorrow that we feel
Will not hurt us forever, but it will take some time to heal

God sent us an angel but she couldn’t stay for long
For he needed her in heaven and he had to call her home
But we were surely blessed, and each of us was loved
By the angel who has left us, but still watches from above

God sent us an angel, her heart devoid of wrath
Now hand in hand with Jesus, she walks a golden path
She’s going to meet her savior; the time is now at hand
For eternal peace awaits her, there in the Promised Land

  1. I needed that today. Thanks.

  2. Ride the happy bus for sure, it’s a great daily route! Starr has a beautiful way with words, and the memories and words for sunny are inspiring. I never met sunny but knowing starr and you I feel the inspiration to pattern my life in the same way. So many good and posetive actions,I believe any one who reads Hopes Angel will do the same!

  3. Neena: Thank you.

Dave: They were good girls and I am proud of Starr and the way she is dealing with things. It is an impossible situation.

  4. That was absolutely beautiful…thanks so much for sharing! ((HUGZ!))
