I Need to Get Out More
Duh.
Actually, I have been getting out. And it’s been good!
There is so much going on out there. Starr and I witnessed more than we planned when taking a minute to visit my friend Rosemary and her Afro-Brazilian drumming group practicing in the park Sunday afternoon. We were early. My bad, we had copies to make for the 5k and it really didn’t take as long as I thought. So in an effort to stall, we went to McDonalds and bought a water and some Sweet Tea. Sweet Tea has become my main source of caffeine since attempting to quit my Diet Coke addiction. I love it.
That stall didn’t help. Trying to find a parking spot at the park, we decided that we were still just too early. We decided to take a little drive, 10-15 minutes and come back. As I made this decision, I also took a drink out of my very large Sweet Tea. Suddenly tea and ice were all over my lap. Sweet. Tea. On. My. Lap.
Soaked and frustrated I now needed to go home and change. Thirty five minutes later, we parked at the park and walked towards the sounds of drumming. Walking past a bike polo game and even better a group of people dressed like cast members of Monty Python’s Holy Grail playing with swords. It was hot, we didn’ t think running around in full costume looked like fun to us, but we appreciated the sight!
The Afro-Brazilian drumming was a lot of fun. I wish I had that skill. Starr and I saw a djembe at the antique store a couple weeks ago. Ever since watching The Visitor, I have been wanting one. I was so tempted, but logic won out. If I wasn’t a card carrying member of The Poverty Party…oh well.
Last week I finally met Barb in person at a local Green meet-up. (Yay!) The gathering was at a local business that was trying to embrace green and spiritual or earthy philosophies. Large windows, bringing the outdoors in, calming colors, open and alternative work spaces. It didn’t hurt that the building backed up to a lovely lake. I didn’t bring my camera, as usual, but snapped a couple pictures with my phone.

What you can’t see in this picture is the amazing cloud of cottonwood seeds drifting and being lit up by the sun. It was beautiful and magical

Isn’t it nice just getting out and about, doing something different, to shake things up. Sometimes when I am blah I realize I just need to go do something, anything and all of a sudden my perspective changes.
It is nice to get out and about! I tend to forget and hibernate!
sounds like a couple of great days! relaxing and exploring… those are good!
They are good! Very good!

It does look kind of fun doesn’t it!?
Listen to you, a Poverty Party champion!
I should’ve said “widget displaying” instead of card carrying. : )
that slide looks so cool! that’s really an office building?!? I wonder if people use the slide instead of the stairs. I think I would!
Yup, it’s inside. And it looks well used. It looked like a great place to work!!
I’m glad you’re getting out. I’m not glad you had sweet tea all over your lap! Is it bad that the last thing I want to do is get out?
I just might be turning into my father…
Thanks! I don’t think it’s bad! Home is safe and comfortable.
yeah for getting out and about! i too hibernate too much at times
I had a great time meeting you, and look forward to getting together again soon!
Secretly, I *so* wanted to go down that slide! There was just no way I was going to do it with all those people milling about watching… if they had been people I knew, maybe, but not complete strangers!
