I Have This Weakness
A weakness for indie (or indie-ish..) movies…and music. Sometimes I start an indie movie with really high hopes only to be left with atmosphere, but I still drift into indie territory with regularity.
I was super excited when a indie theater opened in my town. A cinema-cafe! As excited as I was, I actually just went for the first time a couple weeks ago to see a free screening of King Corn (which I recommend). Starr and I went again last night. She wanted to see Away We Go, so we did.
A chicken quesadilla, chips and salsa, Diet Coke (not mine…) and a Fat Tire…and we had dinner and refreshments for the flick.
Sorry, again, for the crappy cell phone pics!
We loved the casual atmosphere. I loved enjoying my beer while watching the movie. It was all good.
We loved the movie, it hit us in all the right places. It was funny and touching.
Away We Go – Trailer
We thought all of the previews looked interesting: Adam, Whatever Works, and Taking Woodstock:
Taking Woodstock – Trailer
Starr was elated about the prospect of the Woodstock movie. She has watched the original 1970 movie many times. So many that she feels like she knows everyone in it personally. In the car on the way home she said “people just don’t understand [my love of this event]…if I had been at Woodstock, I would have been so naked!”
Should I be proud?
Whatever. She makes me laugh!

I adored Away We Go.
Wasn’t it great?!
I love that Tara and I share a love of movie going. We haven’t quite made it to the indie movies yet, but still something we can share. I wish we had that type of theater close by here… but we do not. I want to see Away We Go. Today, I think we will see Ice Age 3!
I liked the previous Ice Age movies, they are a lot of fun! You will have to let me know how number 3 is!
thats so funny what starr said… aaaaah, be proud!! and a cinema cafe… helloooo that sounds sooo wonderfully awesome!
: ) I am proud. We are really happy about the cinema cafe, Starr is already making plans to rent it out for her charitable foundation!
What is Fat Tire??
Bo and I are huge indie-o-philes. Always hunting up the next good one (foreign films as well) so thanks for the heads-up cause we miss a LOT, I’m sure. Hope you’re feeling better?
P.S. Found Away We Go locally at ONE theater and hope to see it soon. But it won’t be NEARLY as cool as YOUR theater. Unbelievable. An indie theater AND cafe. We would LIVE there!
I hope you enjoy it. I always hesitate recommending a film. We liked it, but will you?
Gene Shalit, of the Today Show hated it!! But he hates more than he loves, so…??
