Naming the Kitten
I told Starr as we drove out to Rosemary’s farm that I only had one name that I really didn’t want to use. Bella. Not because I didn’t like it, but because Randi’s little sweetie is Bella. I felt she should own the name. In addition JLO’s daughter is Bella, I would feel more comfortable finding a different name.
On the way there we saw the most incredible moon, low to the ground, huge and orange. Wow. I suggested that we could find a moon related name.
“No mom. I knew a Luna once and I will always think of her when I hear that name.”
Okay, not Luna.
Probably because I put it out there, we kept coming back to Bella. I also suggested Izzie. Starr immediately leapt onto the name Isabelle and wouldn’t even discuss alternatives. So she calls her Isabelle.
Isabelle doesn’t feel right to me, so I am calling her Izzie…sometimes (mostly!) Bella, because I am consistent like that!!
Bottom line is we ended up with the one name that I said I didn’t want…and it suits her.

Yeah, she has a name. I like Izzie and Bella. Tara’s cat has two names – Kovu and Bubba (or Bubby). I nicknamed him Bubba cause he was so big, and for a cat a little clumsy when he was a kitten!

Where did Kovu come from?
I am laughing out loud at this! We know so many kids named Bella and Izzie, and if a person doesn’t have a daughter with the name, they often have a dog or cat with that name!
I think she looks like a Lulu, myself.
But I’m glad she finally has something that people can call her.
What about Zeb? I hear that in Isabelle… Sabel? Zebbie? Sabbie?

I really wanted to try harder for a name other than Bella. I love the idea of Zebbie or Sabbie, they work for me. I might try to make the change behind Starr’s back…she is the “visitor” in this situation. Right??
For the record, I ran the names by Starr and was flatly rejected…but I am thinking: My Cat!
Hey – I got it! It came to me in the car today, which is where my best ideas come.
Lala!! Kinda like Lulu but playing off of Bella.
I love it!! Starr says (um) no : ), but give me another week and see where we are at. The cat responds when I call any name in THAT voice, Elvis, JoJo, Buffy…Hey You!

I’m sure she’ll be called many unrelated-to-Bella names in the course of her ‘beautiful’ (pun intended) life.

nope not yet.. hubby has begun a new job (really great.. but it’s been crazy getting the schedule down).. and it’s just been hectic and insane.. maybe this holiday wkend???
