Naming the Cat…Take 2

Posted by on March 11, 2010 in Bella, Life | 5 comments

I tried to talk to Starr about the kitten’s new name several times yesterday afternoon. She was still upset and I was met repeatedly with “I don’t want to talk about it!”

Finally as we were making dinner, we both started throwing out names, none of which seemed to fit. Not having any luck, we changed the subject. Suddenly I blurted out “Winston!” I have no idea where it came from and I don’t really like it, but Starr LOVES IT!! She now refuses to discuss it further.

Winston? *sigh*

I am going to let it go for a few days and see how it settles. I am pushing for Sammy. Sammy is more cuddly than Winston. Winston is aloof and stuffy.

Starr can be really stubborn, but so can I. I may just have to pull my “It’s my cat” card.

  1. Oh no! What a surprise that must have been! The surgery probably cost less too!!!
I like Winston. We had a dog friend whose name was Winston and he was a sweet heart!

    • Yes!! The surgery was MUCH cheaper, which was a very good thing!!!

It seems that I can’t say “Winston” without sounding angry, no matter how hard I try. So I am going with Sam, Sammy or Samuel…depending on the situation. I do like Winston very much!! But I just can’t use it right now.

  2. Oh goodness! How funny. It’s just not right to call him by a girl name once you know he’s a boy! Maybe Winston can be shortened to Winnie as in Winnie the Pooh! :) Of course, he is a tuxedo cat so the formality of the name is not a bad fit…

    • I agree! The name Winston would fit his coloring!!

We are still having trouble calling him, well, him! We will get it eventually!!

      We hope!!

  3. Got a new name yet? Maybe some of that medical marijuana will help. ;)
