Reflections of Motherhood

“We asked moms if they could go back to before their first baby, what would they tell themselves. These are their answers. Everyone in the video is a mom :)

Although I love this and I think that the messages are awesome, it also strikes me that most of these moms seem to be young moms. I think that most of the messages stay the same, but there are more as your child ages. Life happens…you know? *sigh* It isn’t as simple as “sleep now”, although it used to be. I seriously thought I knew what I was doing when Starr was little. And I did the best I could. We have always been fine, the two of us, but things change. Tragedy, the relationships with those around us and changes in our own relationship as she is getting ready to live her own life. The learning and the changing never stops.

I don’t suppose it ever will. And I think that is a good thing!!

  1. wonderful video and all…
and maybe i am wrong in saying this and all since i have no kiddos yet.. but i try to live w/out wishing i could go back and change things… for one thing- i CAN’T.. and if i sit there and imagine all do going back and changing this… then i get totally depressed for NO reason.. b/c i CAN’T go back…

what’s that saying.. you live you learn.. i am SO BEHIND that… but again… my perspective might change when i actually birth a child!

    • : ) Good morning!! Nope. You can’t go back, but in going forward, it is nice to know that you aren’t alone, that your feelings are normal, that no one is perfect. That parenting is an ever-changing journey.

  2. I agree with you. It would have been even nicer if they had made the messages change progressively as the ages of the moms increased. I’d like to hear more from moms around our age!

  3. What a great idea! Thanks so much for sharing this video.

I know I would have told myself ‘It’s OK to ask for help’. (Even though motherhood happened 12 yrs. ago that ones still hard for me).
