On a Mouse Hunt

Twice in the past week a mouse has darted across my path in the garage. The first time I almost convinced myself that it was just my imagination, just a blur of motion caused by the boxes that I had just picked up and was swinging around to move them to a new location. I almost forgot about it.

Until yesterday. Starr and I were headed out to run some errands and as I opened the door to the garage, I saw another blur of motion headed towards the wall disappearing behind the refrigerator. Damn. He was too fast to see clearly, but twice is enough to convince me. We added another stop to the list and bought some traps…and a new garbage can. Ours was nearly eight years old and the bottom had holes in it from dragging it to the curb every week. Although, if I remove the access to the garbage in the garage, will he be more tempted to come in the house? Are they already inside?

Reminded me of these pictures I found a few weeks ago while sorting slides: 1978 on the “farm” in Minnesota. Thirteen years old, and the field mouse was adorable! They are not so cute when invading my home!

Also reminds me of the apartment DJT and I rented when the girls were young, with a huge mouse problem! Not to mention the mosquitos and the snakes!! Oh my goodness, the snakes! I can laugh about it now. Thankfully, I don’t have snakes here…as far as I know! *shudder*
